30 Days of ME!

30 Days of ME: Day 4

So yes I know, today is not technically day 4... but it's post 4 so we will just go with that... =P

Today's question: List 20 random facts about yourself. Easy enough huh?

1. I am obsessed with office supplies- pens, colored papers, metallic colored paper clips, brand new crayons, sharp pointed pencils, colored staples, file folders, label makers.... the list goes on.

2. I would rather start over completely than scribble out or use white out... idk lol

3. I'm the oldest our of 5 kids... and I feel like their mother hen. Don't mess with my little chickens!

4. I'm finally going to college after 10 years of being out of high school, and I couldn't be more excited!

5. I love the color pink and anything sparkly, yet I don't mesh well usually with uber girly girls.... and despised cheerleaders in high school (sorry!)

6. I have three tattoos, and a desire for lots more but not a lot of places to put them where I can cover them if need be

7. I've only been in 2 states that don't touch Georgia borders: Kentucky and Mississippi

8. My favorite seasons are fall and winter- I hate summer and spring in Georgia really doesn't exist.

9. I really want to live somewhere where you actually have 2-3 months of nice crisp autumn days, followed by a snowy winter and Christmas... Colorado calls to me, guess I should visit first huh? (stay tuned for my next question that uses this as it's subject!)

10. I hate shoes... I'd go barefoot all the time if it were socially acceptable.

11. I have a phobia of water I can't stand in... or see in. Swimming in Lake Lanier is NOT an option. Oh and because of my phobia I can just barely swim, but not enough to take my children swimming by myself.

12. I still pronounce spaghetti-o's as "sketty o's"

13. I hate salad and all the little fresh veggies those entail.... terrible for me I know.

14. I hate needles. Getting a shot is worse than a tattoo. Weird huh? To add to this, the worst part of my pregnancies and childbirth was all the needles, blood drawing and iv's.. Crazy.

15. I can't potty train a puppy. I've tried several times. Next dog is getting lessons.

16. I have extremely opposite tastes... and can't figure out how to mesh them, I like old style things, things Rob calls "grandma furniture" you know the shiny cherry wood tables with the cream chair cushions you'd put plastic on before letting kids sit there and eat, but at the same time I like modern contemporary clean design too. What to do....

17.I'm a carb-o-holic, my favorite dinners consist of home made mac and cheese and some form of potato... any kind will do.

18. I have a really hard time doing math in my head.

19. I love baking.

20. I don't like lotion...

30 Days of ME: Day 3

Today's question: What is the one thing you most wish you were great at/had?

This started out a hard question- of course lots of answers like "I'd love to be great at history, computers, I'd love to have a nice house" etc came to mind. After some reflection I decided to answer this on a different, deeper level. The one thing I wish I was great at is self confidence, loving myself. That's deep huh?? =) I wish that I could be confident. I hope this is something that will come in time, when I start accomplishing my goals and feel better about me.

Having a lack of confidence consumes my life some days. I don't make friends easily because I'm too shy to walk into a group of people and just strike up a conversation. Once I get to know you everything is fine, but somehow I guess my mind tells me that no one wants to hear what I have to say. My lack of confidence covers a broad range of topics- my weight, I'd like braces to align my teeth, I don't have a shiny new car, we don't make tons of money, I don't have a college degree... Society teaches us from a young age to feel unworthy and that bug bit me hard.

I finally feel like these things are things I can change or improve. There are some of you that have read my blog that have personally reached out and said I'm motivating and inspiring. You don't know how much of a boost that gave me!

I have an old classmate that I haven't seen since probably 7th grade, but you know what I found out? I have babies already, and she is pregnant with her first child, and guess what? She takes advice about baby products and such from me!  OK, so maybe I can't jump in a deep conversation about economics, maybe I can't hold my own in a showdown about the inner workings of Government- but someone out there will listen, I just have to find something I know a bit about.

I started this blog a while back, but after reading some others I stopped writing. I didn't feel like my language and writing skills were up there enough to actually publish something online. But you folks showed me. I don't have hundreds of followers, but I see a few of you consistently checking out this blog and that means a lot to me. So yet another confidence booster. =)

My weight is at an all time high, and it's freaking me out. But guess what? I can change that. I'm headed to the store in the morning to fill the pantry and fridge with chicken and healthy snacks! My weight is going to be the hardest confidence killer to overcome. I want to lose a total of 85.6 lbs.... Crazy huh? I've never been particularly happy with my body, I was pretty confident until about the 8th grade and then it just fell out the window. But alas, I can change it. I have the power inside me.

So that's what I'd like to be great at: self acceptance and self confidence. Sorry if this post was a tad all over the place, but sometimes that's how you get all of your real feelings out. Just let your hand write.

Until next time.... ~K

30 Days of ME: Day 2

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year old self...... I think today will be a short and sweet list, as I can see this one could go on and on and on. So here goes:

1. There is plenty of time to fall in love in life- it doesn't have to happen today.

2. What you think you want today will be totally different 10 years from now, heck even 5 years from now- in every aspect of your life. No matter what is going on, it won't be like this for long~ (don't believe me? hear it straight from Mr. Darius Rucker below- he knows!)

3. Education is important, do the best you can otherwise life will just be that much harder for you.

4. You are special. You are worth it. You deserve anything you set your mind to accomplish.

5. There are more important things in life that what Sara told Becky. Don't let catty stuff consume you.

6. Babies ARE cute, however they don't fix relationships, or ensure your relationship will last. Plenty of time for that so WAIT!!

7. You can make excuses and blame others for your shortcomings, or you can get up and change your life.

8. (From my Nana)- The sooner you learn that you can't change anyone but yourself, the better off you will be.

9. There are people out there that will value you, don't settle for those that don't.

10. YOU ARE SOMEBODY!

I don't have regrets, just observations. There are so many things I missed out on that I will never have the chance to do, but that's ok. The fact is I'm making a difference in my life today, and that's all I can do.

30 Days of Me

While I was scrolling around on Pinterest I came across a questionnaire geared towards couples learning new things about each other. I started reading the questions and saw they were more than your average "what's your favorite color?" So I'm turning them into a blog challenge called 30 Days of ME. Pretty simple each day I will blog about a new question. Some will be long, others will be short, some will be easy and others will be harder to answer. I think it's good for one to look inside themselves and discover what is truly in your heart and mind and not what you want everyone else to see. So today begins day 1.

What are your biggest pet peeves? What makes you tick, drives you nuts? I have a list... more like a rant than an answer, but the more I thought about this the more things I thought of that just irk me to the core. So here goes in no particular order:

1.  Dead beat parents- If you make a child, whether you still love their mother or father, the child didn't ask to be here, using them as pawns to hurt the other parent, or just not caring enough to stick around and help raise them, either way I can't understand it. I have such a strong bond with my kids, I don't see how so many just walk away.

2. Putting wet towels on the bed- *ahem* Robert Green *cough* ;)

3. Chewing with your mouth open/smacking- last I checked I didn't sit down with a pack of rottweilers

4. People that leave crappy tips when they go out to eat.

5. Automated customer service lines

6. Metal against metal sounds

7. When people put empty containers back in the fridge or pantry

8. Someone standing behind me reading over my shoulder

9. The combining of celebrity names "TomKat, Bennifer" etc.

10. People that think their Dolce & Gabanna shades make them a great person

11. When you lost something and people ask "where did you put it last?"- um well if I knew that it wouldn't be lost now would it???

12. When people don't look at you or respond when you are talking to them

13. People that don't RSVP when you have told them you are making food, need to make a reservation etc.

14. When the grocery bagger bags your items in a stupid way, even though they were perfectly organized on the conveyor before hand

15. when someone calls me and spends more time talking to the other people in the room with them than talking to me

16. People who are late and feel no need to let you know/ ME being late

17. When the server or cashier says "anything else/ is that all" after each thing you order

18. People that talk during the movie in theaters

19. The "leashes" for kids disguised as backpacks. If my mom could handle 5, you AND your husband should be able to to handle ONE

20. People that flip between 2 or even 3 shows at a time. Just pick one and watch it, the safe auto commercial you are trying desperately to avoid won't kill you.

21. Those people in the center of the mall walkways at the carts/stations that try to grab you and slather you with lotion, curl your hair, or whatever other gimmick they are trying to sell, add pushy sales folks to that too. I know you are just trying to do your job but a mom with three kids doesn't have time to sit and hear about your $200 hair straightener

22. When my food touches other foods on my plate. If only using a divided plate after age 5 was acceptable

23. Hoodrat Syndrome- their response to everything is "she don't know who she messin' wit", "I'm from [insert supposed gangsta city here], I'll f*** you up", "don't hate", and other various "I'm a badass" statements without ever actually doing anything but running their trash mouth

24. When people keep sniffling instead of blowing their nose... the snot isn't going anywhere unless you get a tissue!!

25. DUI drivers- no elaboration needed

26. Procrastinators- about important stuff

27. People that put others down and just don't care that it's hurtful. We are taught in elementary school to be nice folks... it's really not that hard. Compassion and empathy are good qualities to possess. Being mean is not.

So there you are folks, whew that's one long list of stuff that drives me crazy! Stay tuned for tomorrow for the answer to: List 10 things you would tell your 16 year old self, if you could.

I really like today's post! I think everyone struggles with self esteem issues on some level. It is good to set goals for yourself & it feels wonderful to achieve them but it's a short lived self esteem booster. I think with age we learn to love ourselves for who we are, where ever we are in life. We as women will always struggle with this on some level. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone! :)
